Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana is a deemed university near Ambala in the state of Haryana, India. Erstwhile known as Maharishi Markandeshwar Education Trust, it was founded with the objective of "social, educational and economic upliftment of society"[citation needed] in 1993 by Maharishi Markandeshwar Ji. The Maharishi Markandeshwar Educatational Trust established the first self-financing Engineering College, first self-financing Medical College and the first Self Financing Deemed University in the state of Haryana.[2][third-party source needed]

The campus of the University which has already developed into a small township is ideally located on an area of about 200 acres of land on the bank of Markanda River with exotic lush green surroundings of green fields, high trees and rural folk with all facilities of modern amenities on its campus.
The University has its own civic facilities like water supply, sewerage and electrification with provision of high-powered soundless generators to ensure uninterrupted electric supply in each of the buildings. Intercom system with over 7500 connections, connects offices, hostels and Residential Complex in the university to facilitate free flow of communication. There are more than 14 hostels with wifi and home like facilities.Most of the hostels are centrally air conditioned.There re 11 parking complexes within the university.
The campus has two shopping centers with two Banks namely Oriental Bank of Commerce and State Bank of India Branch with ATM facilities also by PNB besides Post office with Speed-Post service, Petrol Outlet by Indian Oil and eating shops by renowned brands such as, Café Coffee Day, Nescafé,Dosa plaza, Pizza Hub, pizziano, The Kathi Roll to provide basic amenities. Two Auditoriums with seating capacity of about 200 and 250 persons respectively are available on the Campus. In addition, an open air theater is also available with a capacity of about 2500 person.[4]

Accommodation

A 3-star Facility Hotel-cum-Resort MM Continental opened to provide accommodation to visitors and corporates. The hotel is currently managed by Mr. Amit Rai Mehra. The hotel has 48 well appointed rooms, 24 hours coffee shop, fine dining restaurant, gymnasium, swimming pool, banquets, banquet lawns and discothèque. A centrally air-conditioned MM International School with high quality infrastructure consisting of two multistory teaching blocks, hostel facilities, administrative block, Library-cum-Lab complex, Sports-cum-Physical Education complex, with Gymnasium and facilities of a number of indoor as well as outdoor games, including Swimming Pool are also present.

Transportation

The university is located in Mullana. There is a major university road that connects the town to the university. Many local taxis, cabs, HSRTC buses and private buses are available to reach the university The university has arranged for bus services for students and staff from nearby cities such as Ambala, Chandigarh, Jagadhari, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Bilaspur-Sadhaura, Patiala, Saharanpur, Jaipur, Pathankot (Punjab), Gurgaon etc.
