Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur

NIT Nagpur is located in the western part of the city near Ambazari Lake, about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Nagpur Railway Station and 18 kilometres (11 mi) from Nagpur Airport. There are three main entrances to the 220 acres (89 ha) campus, namely the Main Gate on South Ambazari Road, the Bajaj Nagar Gate and the Yashwant Nagar Gate.
History 
The Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur is one of the twenty National Institutes of Technology in the Country. The Government of India converted this Institute into National Institute of Technology and conferred the Deemed to be University status (under University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956)) with effect from 26 June 2002.

Training & Placement department provides the necessary guidance to the students for career planning and personality development. T & P department invites public and private sector organizations for campus recruitment of final year B.Tech, B.Arch and M.Tech students. During the academic year 2011-12, about 95 companies visited the campus and 443 jobs were offered to UG & PG students.
